had toldher: “Internally,

politicalchain”,andhinted
atproblemsif“bossesaren’t
happy”.

Theywerefrettingthatan
exposé of Savilewould
firstlyupsetall thepeople
who,mystifyingly, lovedthe
man.
And, second, that they’d
havetoscraptheirtribute
showstoSavilewhichthey
intended to run last
Christmas (andwhichyou
mayhavewatched, ifyou
weretoodrunktousethe
remoteproperly).
Soitlooksominouslyasif
someoneat theBBCis
tellingporkies—andwhen
wefindoutwhoitis,they
willsurelyhavetogo.
Itshouldneverhavebeen
acrisisofthismagnitude.
Eveniftheseniorbosses
were involved—whichI
wouldbet theywere—it
stillneedn’thaveresultedin
thisdog’sbreakfast.
Far, farworsethanthe
decisionnot to run the
programmehasbeen the
subsequentcover-up.
Andthesuspicionleftwith
thepublicthatitcan’ttrust
Auntieanymore.
